Getting Started

PureConverter provides a RESTful API for file conversion. Follow these steps to get started.

1Create an account and generate an API key from your dashboard.
2Install our SDK or use the REST API directly with any HTTP client.
3Upload a file, specify the target format, and download the result.

Authentication

All API requests require a Bearer token in the Authorization header.

All API endpoints are relative to this base URL.

Rate Limits

Rate limits vary by plan. Exceeding limits returns HTTP 429.

POST/v1/convert/upload

Upload & Convert

Upload a file and start conversion to the target format.

Body: file (binary), target_format (string)

file

REQUIRED

The binary data of the file you wish to convert. Supports 200+ formats including PDF, DOCX, HEIC, MP4, and more.

format

REQUIRED

The extension string of the desired output format (e.g., "png", "pdf").

Headers: Authorization, Content-Type (multipart/form-data)

GET/v1/convert/status/:id

Check Status

Check the status of a conversion job by its ID.

URL Parameters

id

REQUIRED

The conversion ID returned from the upload endpoint.

GET/v1/convert/download/:id

Download Result

Download the converted file once processing is complete.

id

REQUIRED

The conversion ID. Returns the converted file as a binary download.

GET/v1/formats

List Supported Formats

Returns a list of all supported input and output formats. Use this to validate format compatibility before uploading.

DEL/v1/conversions/:id

Delete File

Permanently removes the uploaded file and its conversion result from our servers. Files are automatically purged after 24 hours, but you can delete them earlier using this endpoint.

REQUIRED

The conversion ID of the file to delete.

Error Codes

The API uses standard HTTP status codes.

Code	Description
400 Bad Request	Invalid parameters or missing required fields.
401 Unauthorized	Missing or invalid API key.
403 Forbidden	Insufficient permissions for this operation.
404 Not Found	Resource not found.
429 Too Many Requests	Rate limit exceeded. Retry after the specified delay.
500 Internal Server Error	An unexpected error occurred. Contact support.
